Project description

In this project, I was tasked with transferring all 45 unique land units from each civilization in Age of Empires 2 from 3Ds Max to Unreal Engine and rendering their unique idle loops.

This project really put my 3D generalist skills to the test since most of the files were not meant to be transferred from 3Ds Max to Unreal Engine. I had to modify and troubleshoot many aspects of each unit, ranging from rig issues to shading incompatibilities.

Once I had transferred the units into Unreal Engine, I had to set up two levels for each unit: one for the left camera that would be used during the event and one for the right camera. Once I set up these levels, I had to wait until one day before the event to make any last changes to my setup.

On the eve of the event, I matched the camera perspective and rendered out over 5,000 frames across 90 levels, passing them through After Effects for some post-processing, to compile my rendered frames and perform one last quality check,

Once everything was ready I sent them to the Xpression machine onsite in Spain.

During this I also worked on a few extra graphics.
